The Rolex Fastnet Race 2009
THE RACE
The famous Rolex Fastnet Race takes competitors across 600 miles and up to 5 days battling wind and tidal conditions to round the Fastnest rock on the Southern tip of Ireland.
Racers head west down the Solent and out through the Needles, past the South coast landmarks of Anvil Point, Portland Bill, Start Point and Land's End before finishing at Plymouth.
Along with the Sydney to Hobart Race this is one of the top offshore racing events in the world today.
Prior sailing and race experience is not essential, however crew should be reasonably fit and in good health.
